Saab’s BioHybrid

During the pre-show of the Geneva International Auto Show, the Saab brand has sent out a new concept vehicle which has been quite a star. This new concept vehicle is the Saab 9-X BioHybrid concept.

According to Saab, the Saab 9-X BioHybrid concept is the kind of vehicle which shows off the kind of promise that a vehicle has when it comes to using bioethanol as fuel. This fuel is then used with the company’s GM Hybrid system. Together, the fuel and the new hybrid system give the vehicle exceptional boosts when it comes to performance as well as efficiency.

The Saab 9-X BioHybrid concept comes with a special engine of course. This unit is able to run on E85 and it is small. It can take in 1.4 liters and is a BioPower turbo unit. This power source can spurt out 200 units of horsepower as well as 280 Nm of torque. Of course, Saab has also made sure that the Saab 9-X BioHybrid concept would also not be having a high amount of carbon dioxide emissions as compared to vehicles that run on gasoline.

The 1.4 liter BioPower turbo engine unit that the Saab 9-X BioHybrid concept has is actually geared with a six speed manual gearbox and transmission system. This system is also matched to an automatic clutch. The steering wheel has also been given controls so as to be able to facilitate the performance and driving capacity of the vehicle better.

Using the GM Delta platform, this concept car from Saab actually is speculated to be the kind of vehicle that the future Saab 9-1X would be like. Features of this concept include a keyless entry system. You would not find rearview mirrors in the vehicle. Instead, you would be working with small cameras to show you what’s happening at the vehicle’s rear.
