Rohens Invades China
Now that the Beijing Olympics – Hyundai’s primary reason of postponement in the release of the company’s new release – is over, the unveiling of the Rohens has finally happened. Shanghai has been the witness of this unveiling that took place today September 23, 2008. The announcement was made by the Hyundai Motor Company in Beijing. Hyundai Rohens is sold outside of China as the Hyundai Genesis. The Korean car company has made it possible to introduce the new model in China as a luxury line comparable to that of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 7-Series with a huge difference of course in their prices.
It can be remembered that Hyundai once planned to release the said model in China in July – a very strategic date to commence with the upcoming Beijing Olympics. However, due to some government’s restrictive regulations regarding taxation on cars in line with the event, Hyundai have ceded to make its announcement late September. Nothing less, Rohens was appreciated by the Chinese consumers despite changes in date of launching as related to the marketing strategies of the company.
Hyundai Rohens, just like the Genesis, uses a V8 Tau engine. This engine is the newest engine model of the company and particularly designed to be used in Genesis models. It exceeds its predecessor, the Omega, in terms of torque, horsepower, and some other features. Notably, V8 Tau engine is capable of producing 280 kw (375 hp) at 451 N.m (333 ft.lbf) of torque at 4.6 liters of unleaded gasoline.
Earlier noted to have been patterned with the BMW 5-Series, Rohens paved in with 14% lead over BMW in terms of rigidity and slightly huger than MB E-Class’ interior. The materials used for the body and the frame of this Hyundai baby are high quality tensile steels yet the over all weight is reciprocal.
China should expect to have 3000 units of Rohens cruising on its roads this year because the company plans to allot this number of units to this region from the total of 20,000 of expected sales in overseas count. Selling price of the Hyundai Rohens starts at $58,267.00 – just the exact price for a full sized sedan with an elegant appeal.
