Multipla and Libra to Hit the Highway
In the year 1992 in Yongkang City, Zhejiang province, Zotye Holding was created. It is an automotive sheet metal supplier. As present, it is known in the auto industry. Way back in 2006, it launched its Zotye 5008 model. It continues to expand its manufacturing base in Changsha, city of Hunan province. Said place will also be the venue of the upcoming launching of Fiat cars.
Aside from Zotye 5008, there is also the Zotye 2008, the small city SUV based on Daihatsu Terios. It brought out Mitsubishi engines with 1.3L and 1.5L motor. Zotye ’08 was given new appearance and was wedged with rubber bumpers and blue dashboard. Now, Zotye will launch its Fiat cars─ the Multipla, and the Lybra. Said launching will be this coming November and early 2009.
According to Beijing Times, Fiat-based cars launching will be conducted by a small startup automaker in China, the Zotye Holding group. It was decided that four sedan flatforms will be launched. Previous models will also be included like Jingnan Alto, Zotye 2008, and Zotye 5008. Plus, the new Multipla and Lybra will also be launched. Said platforms will produce several series namely: A-series, Z-series, L-series and M-series. Jingnan Alto acquired by Zotye in 2007 is the basis for A-series, while Z-series includes small-car Zotye 2008 and crossover Zotye 2008. However, L-series and M-series came from Fiat’s Lybra and Multipla sedans.
Basically, the launching will highlight Zotye Multipla and Lybra. What are these two? The first one is a combination of sedan’s comfort and MPV spaciousness, plus SUV sportiness. It is an all new crossover model. The latter is distinguished between mid- to high- end sedan. Multipla will be launched the following month, while Lybra will go on sale in 2009.
